Biography in Brief

Ven. Ududumbara Kashypa Bhikku was born in 1971 in Ududumbara, Kandy Sri Lanka and mainly raised in Minuwangoda, Gampaha District, Sri Lanka. As a lay person he did his highest education & got his Engineering degree from University of Peradeniya and worked as an Engineer for about 7 years in State Engineering Corporation, Sri Lanka.

I personally don't know much about this venerable Bhikku to share with you as I have no such a personal connection with all these Noble Bhikkus categorize here. Even I don’t believe in such a connection which looks for personal details etc. As long as the dhamma they shared is worthy to listen that’s what all important for me.

Even though I personally meet Ven. Ududumbara Kashyapa thero, I never bothered to ask him about these details as I already know that he doesn't like to popularize himself as a person, but only as a person whom share the dhamma.

So, as far as I know it's been only 7 – 8 years he entered to the monk hood though he has this effective skills of preaching dhamma I personally find is amazing. I have notice that even elderly persons whom have chances to fall asleep quickly while listening to a sermon rarely sleeps when he explain the dhamma. Even it is for hours the listeners feel so fresh & more attractive to the pure dhamma.

Ven. Ududumbara Kashyapa thero's specialty is that he encourages a lot to cease the suffering quickly as possible without delaying it for personal reasons. He point out the things which people should think about and what missed to think.

I find him as a very humble Bhikku who is really wise and open minded on many areas to discuss with. Compared to the most of the popular Bhikkus in Sri Lanka he is far more advance on encouraging people to attain nirvana soon.

Also he has one great quality that he don't criticize people as a persons and give less consideration to find out what others do and always encourage people to find out our own faults than others. He currently is staying “Gallawawehera” Monastery at Mahawa, Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. I once been there for few days for meditation program and I personally notice how wisely he handle the whole environment according to the Samma Sambuddha's guidance. He also residing one of the new monastery in Kurunagela District too.

His concern on making a wise team of noble Bhikkus who are powerful enough to guide the others as noble friends in the path of nirvana is worthy to praise. And I’m quite sure that he will surely successful in his mission with all his abilities for that, and already he is successful with a wonderful team of young wise Bhikkus like Ven. Ududumbara Sobhitha Thero.
